B Up Sugar Cookie Review

The B Up sugar cookie bar was something I had honestly never even seen or heard of until I looked in the health section of Hy-Vee one day trying to find items to review for this website. The 20g of protein and 20g of fiber instantly caught my eye so I was intrigued to check out the ingredients. To my happiness I discovered the protein came from whey protein isolate and milk protein isolate… **** yeah. I’m always happy to discover a new brand of protein bars that has good protein sources and a high fiber content.

Size Comparison

The total calories for this sugar cookie flavor was 180 calories with the macros of 6g fat, 27g carbs, and 20g of protein. Pretty low calories with 20g of fiber as well makes for some solid macros so I was really hoping this bar would at least be decent so I could justify buying them again in the future.

If you’re a fan of sugar cookies, there’s a fair chance you’ll enjoy the B Up sugar cookie flavor. While the flavor isn’t absolutely on point, it’s not a bad stab at it given how healthy they’re trying to make it. The consistency resembles sugar cookie dough; it is extremely soft in texture. Almost too soft for my liking to be quite honest as it can’t even retain its form when being held out. If you were to hold the bar horizontally by the base out in the air, it would literally start drooping and sinking down at a pretty rapid pace, so it’s almost not even a bar in that case as the bar-shaped packaging is the only component making it hold that shape. Like it was actually really difficult to take the pictures fast enough of this bar before it started losing shape and dropping too low. This takes away nothing from the actual flavor though, which is pretty good for the most part. It does have a legitimate sugar doughy taste to it which is quite satisfying.

IMG_1766With the low calories, good macros and high fiber, the B Up sugar cookie flavor is definitely one of the better protein bars out there from a nutritional standpoint. It’s not in my absolute top flavors or anything, but it’s better than the majority of those that I’ve tried. While I do enjoy sugar cookies, I don’t like them quite as much as some other people I know as far as cookie flavors go so I would probably enjoy the flavor more if so. If you’re a big fan of sugar cookies, you’re likely to enjoy this one even more than I did.
