Lame name aside, I actually had a little excitement going into the Arctic Zero A Lil’ Bit Chippy pint. I do think that vanilla as a base is one of their better flavors despite it being basic, and I always love mix-ins in my pints for added texture and crunch. If nothing else, I figured even if I didn’t like the actual ‘ice cream’ that I would at least find some enjoyment in the abundance of chocolate chips.
Arctic Zero A Lil’ Bit Chippy Review
Fortunately, I was right. The vanilla base of the ice cream is everything I thought it would be which wasn’t terrible, but not amazing either. However, the taste was highly amplified by the inclusion of the chocolate chips which there was a LOT of. Like these things were just straight up loaded throughout the whole point, I really don’t think you could even find a bit that didn’t have at least one chocolate chip. They’re fairly small in appearance so they don’t do a whole lot on their own, but when there are 3-5 in each bite it definitely adds up and makes a significant change to the texture. They’re not the absolute best chocolate chips I’ve ever had, but they do get the job done and more enjoyable to taste than the ice cream itself. Like all other flavors of Arctic Zero, the pint tastes much better if you let it melt a little bit first.
The calories for this pint total out to 300 calories PER PINT consisting of the macros 12p/44c/8f in addition to 12g fiber. Pretty standard for their chunky flavors so no gripes at all here. With the plethora of chocolate chips, I was maybe expecting a little higher fat content so 8g for the whole pint isn’t bad at all given the amount of mix-ins you get.
I have to say, I actually did enjoy my experience with the Arctic Zero A Lil’ Bit Chippy pint. I can’t say that about too many of their flavors either. While the flavor was very simple and basic (literally just vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips), it showed that sometimes simple works and that you don’t need to get too intricate or detailed with crazy flavors to make something that tastes good. I still would choose Enlightened over Arctic Zero any day of the week, but I do think this is one of the better flavors that Arctic Zero has to offer. Not as good as their cookie dough or snickerdoodle dandy pints (I’ve yet to try the brownie blast flavor though which is apparently a top fan favorite), but pretty close at least.
-Still not as good compared to competition
