I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure and it seems highly likely that this was the very first flavor of the Complete Cookie to come out from Lenny & Larry’s. Sometimes the original is the best, as they know what they have is already the best tasting version possible of whatever they can make so they release that flavor first since it has the highest rate of success. Or sometimes the opposite can be true, in that the first flavor released was more of an experiment than anything to see how it would do so they could tweak the recipe a bit in the future and improve upon some things. Was this more of a case of the former or the latter? Read further into my Chocolate Chip Complete Cookie review to find out my opinion on the matter.
Chocolate Chip Complete Cookie Review
It’s a really a case of neither I suppose, as it tastes similar to their other cookies in regards to texture/consistency and accuracy of flavor, just a different flavor clearly. All in all, this cookie is about what I expected. It wasn’t anything crazy or unique on the chocolate chip flavor, but a flavor like that doesn’t have to do anything special to taste great. The texture of the cookie is pretty pleasant to chew through; it’s a nice balance between between firm on the outside but turns soft and chewy when it comes time to devour. While the chocolate chip flavor was pretty accurate though, it’s just simply not as flavorful or intense as some of their other flavors are.
The calories for the whole cookie total out to 380 calories consisting of the macros 16p/54c/12f in addition to 12g fiber. This is pretty middle of the road for the Complete Cookie line as most of them range between 360-420 calories. The serving size is technically only ½ cookie, but I find it extremely hard to save the other half of the cookie for later. Are they expecting me to put the other half in a zip-loc bag to keep fresh or something? Come on Lenny & Larry’s, let’s get real here. I get why they do it from a marketing standpoint because it looks better to have the lower calories on the back, but still looking at it from a realistic view, I’m never just going to eat half. I was raised and taught to finish what I start and to never leave a job left undone.
My concluding thoughts in this Chocolate Chip Complete Cookie review is that overall, it was a respectable take on the classic flavor. It wasn’t as intense with flavor as some of their other cookies are, but normal chocolate chip cookies really aren’t in general. What makes a good chocolate chip cookie simply lies in its execution so for what it was being a ‘health’ cookie and all that, the execution was pretty solid. However with all that being said, I didn’t enjoy this cookie as much as most of the other Lenny & Larry’s cookies if I’m being perfectly honest. It’s not my least favorite flavor by any means, but it’s probably closer in that direction then it is to being my favorite flavor. If you really like basic chocolate chip cookies better than other flavor of cookie out there then give it a shot, but if you also really enjoy other flavors of cookies, I would maybe look to trying those flavors out of Lenny & Larry’s first as they are likely to be a little bit more flavorful.
