As soon as someone told me about these products and that they were actually good, I instantly knew I had to try them. I’m near the very end of my contest prep right now and muffins are just one type of sweet that I haven’t had in a LONG time. I’ve been eating some protein ice cream, protein cookies, protein brownies, etc., but never a protein muffin. Until now. Needless to say, I was HYPED to try these out. I bought all the flavors I could find at the store, but I decided on the Mighty Muffin double chocolate flavor as the first one to try. I love chocolate, so it seemed like a good introduction to the brand.
Mighty Muffin Double Chocolate Review
And indeed it was. I gotta say, the Mighty Muffin double chocolate flavor was EXCELLENT! I mean I know I’m deep into prep right now, but this is far from my first time doing it. I can usually tell if something only tastes good to me because I’m so deprived of food and the taste buds are skewed, or if it legitimately tastes good. This legitimately tasted good, and tasted like an actual double chocolate chip muffin. The chocolate flavor of the muffin itself was strong, and the gooey chocolate chips were the icing on the cake. Just to be sure, I had someone else who’s not on poverty macros try the muffin with me and they agreed. I mean it’s not the absolute best tasting chocolate muffin in the world, no, clearly there are some unhealthy chocolate muffins out there that are going to be absolutely ridiculous in taste. This tastes like your average ‘good’ chocolate muffin though if that makes sense, and for a muffin packed full of protein and macro friendly, that’s more than good enough for me.
As far as the cooking process goes, they’re pretty quick and easy to make. It comes in the form of muffin mix batter in the container that serves as a convenient platform to eat. You just simply add a little water, then heat it up for about 30-45 seconds in the microwave depending on how cooked or uncooked you want it. While it looks more ‘aesthetic’ in muffin form fully cooked for pictures and whatnot, after some experimentation I’ve actually found that I enjoy it a tad more if I undercook it slightly to where it’s a little on the gooier/doughier side.
The Mighty Muffin double chocolate flavor totals out to 220 calories consisting of the macros 20p/21c/8f in addition to 6g fiber. Pretty good macros all things considering, and a little fiber is always nice. I do believe this is the highest fat content out of all their Mighty Muffin flavors though. The macros largely resemble a typical protein bar so it can be a nice substitution, or addition, to those for sure. I will say that’s it not as filling as it could be since it’s fairly easy to eat quickly as opposed to ice cream or something, but it’s not a waste of macros by any means and still makes you feel like you’re eating substantial.
Overall, I was VERY satisfied with my virgin experience with FlapJacked as a company and their Mighty Muffin double chocolate flavor. The flavor is awesome, the macros are friendly, a little fiber is present and perhaps best of all, you have the freedom to control the texture of the muffin by choosing how long to cook it for (which doesn’t take long at all). This is an easy recommendation for people who want to switch up their protein sources every once in awhile and have a healthy, protein-filled snack in the form of a delicious muffin.
