This is the third and final flavor of Buff Bake cookies for me to try. My opinion on their first two flavors varied greatly; I thought the frosted oatmeal raisin was nothing special and wouldn’t choose it over basically any Lenny & Larry’s cookie, but I thought their chocolate chip PB flavor was AMAZING and quite possibly the best tasting protein cookie I’ve ever had, or at least tied for first. The macros on those two cookies varied greatly as well, and I’m guessing you could take a stab at which flavor had the way higher fat/caloric content… Yup, the chocolate chip PB flavor. The Buff Bake White Chocolate PB cookie has very similar macros to their chocolate chip PB flavor, so I’m definitely expecting something with the overall taste as well.
Buff Bake White Chocolate PB Cookie Review
Thank the macro gods that I was right, because I don’t think I could have handled a disappointing experience with fat as high as it is on this cookie. But yes, this flavor was indeed quite excellent and WAY more comparable to their chocolate PB cookie as opposed to their frosted oatmeal raisin cookie; I felt that the former flavor had a legitimate, dense texture to it while the latter tasted more hollow and airy overall. In my opinion this cookie was kind of a mix between those two as far as textures go, but a LOT closer to the chocolate chip PB to my satisfaction. Considering they have basically the same peanut butter base flavor to the cookie itself, I’m kind of surprised the textures weren’t the exact same though, but it may have just been the specific cookie I got. So yeah, the cookies themselves taste very similarly, however the mix-ins are obviously different. The white chocolate chips were pretty damn good, but if I’m being completely honest I don’t think they were as flavorful as the regular chocolate chips in the other flavor. They didn’t seem to be as big either, but that could have just been the specific cookie as well. Regardless, I felt the burst of chocolatey flavor with those chips were a bit more intense and in result more enjoyable than these white chocolate chips. Not by much though because don’t get me wrong, this was still a pretty incredible cookie.
The Buff Bake White Chocolate PB cookie totals out to 360 calories for the whole cookie consisting of the macros 16p/34c/20f in addition to 2g fiber. Out of Buff Bake’s three cookies, as previously stated this one has way more comparable macros to their chocolate PB flavor as opposed to the frosted oatmeal raisin, which has less than half the fat in comparison. That one also contains about half the flavor as well, so I’ll gladly plan ahead and make room for the extra calories/fat in the two PB based cookies instead. I should also note that a serving size is technically only ½ the cookie, however if you’re like me you probably find it VERY difficult to just tear apart half the cookie and save the rest for later in a Ziploc bag to keep it fresh or something… Let’s be real here, who’s honestly doing that?
The Buff Bake White Chocolate PB cookie was definitely a hit in my eyes. The texture was pretty dense, the peanut butter flavor of the cookie itself was accurate and enjoyable, and the white chocolate chips provided a great burst of white chocolatey goodness to complement the peanut butter flavor. Due to the denser texture and more flavorful/bigger chocolate chips, I think I enjoyed the chocolate chip PB cookie just a tad more, but it was fairly close. This one was miles ahead of their frosted oatmeal raisin cookie though, which I honestly don’t think I’ll ever come back to when their other two flavors, and the entirety of Lenny & Larry’s Complete Cookies exist. Speaking of, I’d say this cookie was on a similar level as most of Lenny & Larry’s flavors. But yeah, out of Buff Bake’s three different cookie flavors, they had two hits. In baseball terms that’s pretty good, but it’s not as consistent as it potentially could be. It was enough to make me be on the lookout for any future flavors that they might come out with, however. I think Buff Bake is more known for their peanut butter/cookie spreads anyway. While I’ve heard those products are insanely delicious, they’re also calorically dense (they do have a lot of protein though) and it would be VERY hard for me to limit myself to only one serving on my current poverty contest prep macros. Once my contest season is over and my calories raise a bit though, I plan on tracking some of those products down and trying those bad boys out.
+Great PB flavor and texture, white chocolate chips are pretty good
+16g protein for the whole cookie
+Whey protein isolate
-Way higher fat than their frosted oatmeal raisin cookie, high fat in general
-Could use some more fiber
Overall Rating: A-
