My dreams, that I didn’t even know I had until now, have finally come true. With how ridiculously AMAZING their birthday cake flavor is, I should have only expected that a chocolate birthday cake rendition would soon come out… And low and behold, it has. I didn’t even know that I wanted this as badly as I did, but as soon as I heard of its existence my culinary senses instantly went off the charts… I knew that I needed this in my life. Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the highly anticipated One Chocolate Birthday Cake review.
One Chocolate Birthday Cake Review
First glance, this beauty looks exactly like I imagined it to… Which is an exact replica of the birthday cake flavor, sprinkles and everything, just chocolate obviously. I’m completely okay with this, as I expected nothing less in the first place. And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for… The taste. I don’t think I could have handled the disappointment if otherwise, but my friends I am thrilled to report to you this flavor does indeed live up to the hype and tastes absolutely INCREDIBLE. I mean I’m not going to lie, it’s clearly going to come down to whether you prefer chocolate or vanilla cake in general that’ll dictate what flavor you like better, but if you love chocolate cake… This is everything you could have hoped for. The texture and everything is the exact same as the original birthday cake flavor, even the sprinkles taste the same. The actual chocolate flavor of the bar itself is kind of hard to describe, as it does taste pretty similar to their brownie flavor in all honesty, but it has more of a ‘caky’ taste to it, if that makes sense. I don’t really know the best way to put that into terms, but it does have a distinguishable difference between the two flavors. The texture is definitely different than the brownie flavor though, as it’s far softer and certainly more caky in that sense, plus the abundance of sprinkles gives it an element of confetti-like flavor which really elevates the overall experience in my opinion.
The chocolate birthday cake bar totals out to 210 calories consisting of the macros 22p/25c/7f in addition to 10g fiber. If you’re familiar with One bars then it should be no surprise that these macros are very similar compared to their other flavors. Their flavors aren’t always the EXACT same in caloric content and macros, but they’re all pretty damn close within 10 calories, ~1g fat and ~1-2g carbs. They definitely don’t vary as much as some other brands, like Quest for example.
Melancholy overcomes me as I end this One Chocolate Birthday Cake review, because that means that I’ve also sadly finished the bar itself… An experience I never wanted to end. This feeling of emptiness didn’t last long though as I quickly remembered that I ordered a whole box, so I have 11 more of these beasts to tear through. **** yeah. If you couldn’t tell, this is a clear and easy recommendation from me. I would definitely place this in my top 3 as far as One bars go, and it’s debatably a top 5 protein bar all time for me as well. If we’re comparing direct flavors I think this is better than Combat Crunch’s chocolate cake bar, and it’s every bit as good as the original One birthday cake flavor considering it’s an exact replica with texture and features. It really just comes down to if you prefer that classic vanilla birthday cake flavor or chocolate birthday cake flavor, or whatever you’re more in the mood for at the time really. I like both flavors about equally upon first try, so I’ll most likely rotate between the two cake flavors depending on whatever I’m feeling more at the moment.
+Incredible chocolate cake flavor, same texture/consistency as their original birthday cake flavor
+Whey protein isolate
-The chocolate flavor of the bar itself is a little too similar to their chocolate brownie flavor
Overall Rating: A+
