After trying out their chocolate and cinnamon flavors, it only makes sense that I would try out the Tru-Nut powdered peanut butter original flavor. Their cinnamon flavor was a huge letdown to say the least, unfortunately… But their chocolate flavor was awesome, and maybe even slightly more creamier than PB2’s version. I expected this one to compare similarly to the original flavor of PB2, but there’s only one way to be sure.
Tru-Nut Powdered Peanut Butter Review
Taste test, obviously. My expectations ended up holding true as well. This tasted extremely comparable to the original flavor of PB2, I don’t think most people would be able to tell a difference to be honest. Like the chocolate flavor, it may be a TAD bit creamier than PB2, but I haven’t had PB2 in awhile so my memory is kind of foggy. The actual flavor is very similar though, and neither product struck me as being decidedly better.
The Tru-Nut powdered peanut butter totals out to 45 calories per 2 TBSP consisting of the macros 5p/5c/1.5f in addition to 2g fiber. So yeah, basically the same exact macros as PB2 I believe. If you happen to come across them both in stores for the same price then I guess… Flip a coin? Really can’t go wrong either way.
There’s really not much to say about the Tru-Nut powdered peanut butter that I already haven’t said about PB2 or PB Fit, which are the exact same products essentially. If you’re looking for something similar enough to real peanut butter but with just ¼ the calories, then you can’t go wrong with this. I don’t think it really has any clear advantages over the other powdered peanut butter products out there, but it doesn’t have any disadvantages either.
+1/4 the calories of real peanut butter, only 45 calories per serving
+5g protein, 2g fiber per serving
+Great and creamy PB flavor
+Lot of versatility with its uses
-Though it is comparable, still not nearly as flavorful as real peanut butter
-Have to mix yourself
Overall Rating: A-
