The mint chocolate chip isn’t the last flavor to come out in the One line, but it is the last flavor for me to try. Multiple reasons for this. First of all, I’m not a huge fan of mint which should come as no surprise if you’ve read some of my other reviews. Secondly, I’ve just never seen this particular flavor at any of the stores where I usually buy One bars oddly enough. Is that because it’s not very popular, or because it’s SO popular that’s it’s just always sold out? I’m guessing the former, but let’s find out anyway with this One Mint Chocolate Chip review.
One Mint Chocolate Chip Review
Yeah, definitely the former. While it was a pretty good take on the flavor I suppose, it really has nothing on the other One flavors, or even some other mint flavored protein bars for that matter. It has the same chocolatey coating and appearance like a lot of their other bars, but the inside contains the mint flavor with the chocolate chips scattered throughout. Speaking of, I felt the ‘chocolate chip’ aspect of the title was a bit misleading as that component was essentially a non-factor I thought. There really aren’t that many chocolate chips in the first place, and they’re so small that you barely even notice it whenever you do get a bite of one. The chocolate chunks from the Quest mint chocolate chunk flavor absolutely DESTROYS this bar when it comes to the mix-in game.
The One Mint Chocolate Chip bar totals out to 220 calories consisting of the macros 7f/24c/21p in addition to 10g fiber. Basically the exact same as most of their other flavors, so this one offers no real advantage. I think these are identical to the birthday cake’s macros actually, which means there is not a single reason to ever choose this flavor over that one.
My One Mint Chocolate Chip review is coming to an end with mixed thoughts… I mean, this flavor was far from bad. At the end of the day, I enjoyed it and wasn’t mad with what I was eating. However at the same time, I would NEVER choose this flavor over other One bars such as birthday cake, chocolate birthday cake, peanut butter pie, cookie dough, chocolate brownie, etc. This was definitely a bottom 3 flavor for me along with their lemon cake and almond bliss flavors. Your mileage may vary if you’re a straight up fiend for mint flavored goodies, but regardless I still think the mint protein bar has been done SO much better in Quest’s version. It’s sort of hard to recommend this bar when this knowledge exists, but you could always just see for yourself if you’re that curious.
+Whey protein isolate
+Pretty fresh minty taste, if that’s your thing
-One of the weaker One flavors in my opinion
-For a mint flavored protein bar, Quest still has the best out there
Overall Rating: B+
